Swindon Open Studios Event

This year I am exhibiting at The Landing Arts Gallery at the Arts Centre as part of the Swindon Open Studios event. Time has come round quickly and I have had a busy year exhibiting and making new work. I am currently mid flow with a new series called Waterline which I am trying to finish in time.

I have also been heavily involved in developing experimental drawing workshops which have developed beyond expectation. Initial participants who have stuck with it have come on in leaps and bounds. We have become friends with a common interest meeting up to explore the potential of drawing.

Much exploring of my local area has thrown up new possibilities for work right on my doorstep and once again I have ideas stacking up, which is exciting. All good fun. Take care for now. xxx

Catch Up!

There has been such a lot going on that I have neglected my blog. Oxford Artweeks was a lovely exhibition to take part in, mainly because I received a lot of lovely feedback about my work. I also had work selected for the New Visions III exhibition at the Grant Bradley Gallery in Bristol (picture above).

I am currently working on a new series of paintings with the working title Waterline, which is a response to rivers, canals and lakes that I encounter on my travels. This has included walks along the river at Oxford, Lechlade, Swindon, Quenington, and Radcot so far.

I was lucky to get a painting selected for the Bath Society's Annual Exhibiton and was delighted about that! The preview evening was fun too. I also was chuffed that my work was displayed alongside work I admired.

I currently have approx. twenty paintings in the Robert Vesey Rooms at Bampton in a joint exhibition with Maggie Harris called Intimate Spaces, which runs until 28th July so I will post more pictures later.

I hope you are enjoying the summer weather!

Thanks for your continued interest in my blog.

Take care.

Black Swan Arts Open Competition 2013

Bampton VI, Acrylic and Charcoal on Canvas, 42cm x 42cm

This painting has been selected for the Black Swan Open Competition 2013 in Frome - and I am delighted. It is one of fifteen but the series is still ongoing. I have been enjoying the exploration. I may turn  to the Kennet and Avon Canal for new inspiration before my visit to Cornish coastal areas in September.

Experimental Drawing Workshops

On Saturday 13th April I will be helping to deliver a free taster day for three Experimental Drawing workshops running at Artsite in Swindon in the coming weeks. If you are interested to discover that YOU CAN DRAW then why not come along?

My own workshop on Saturday 20th April will involve individual and group play as a means to keep drawing open and explorative, giving the maximum chance to surprising outcomes and opening up possibilities for future work. This process underpins my work as a painter and can inform other areas of artistic practice too...

By all means send me a personal message for further information on my workshop and the two others offered by Artsite.

RWA Artist Network Member

Just another couple of the Seaford Series presently being exhibited and the Off-White Gallery at Swindon College until 21st December.

I went to London yesterday to see the ING Discerning Eye exhibition at the Mall Galleries. I didn't enjoy it really. So subjective, I know, but I preferred the exhibition last year.

I got home to good news though. I have been accepted as a RWA Artist Network Member so will be getting more involved in meeting other artists, attending talks, workshops and exhibitions, etc... which will be fun. I'm not sure if there are enough hours in the day or even days in the year to do everything... but I shall give it my best shot!

Much love to all and thank you for showing an interest in my work.

Visit to Bristol

I have started working on a new series of paintings in response to the area of Bampton in Oxfordshire. Taking a break this weekend I went back to the Royal West of England Autumn Exhibition in Bristol to take a leisurely look around, minus the crowds. This annual exhibition is one of my favourites and a real treat of a day out for me. To be able to take part is a dream come true and beyond personal expectations. xxx

Seaford Series Exhibition, Swindon College

I am exhibiting my latest work at Swindon College where I studies for my degree. The series of paintings is a response to the beach beneath my feet at Seaford. I was delighted that one of the paintings in the series was selected for the Royal West of England 160th Autumn Exhibition in Bristol which begins this Sunday, 21st October. More exhibition details are listed on the Upcoming Exhibitions on my website. It's a lovely end to a very busy year gaining experience. Time to take a short break I think. Thanks for reading my blog. xxx
